Elections of WGCA officers will take place during the next WGCA meeting. All incumbent offices are running for a new term. However, you wish to run for one of the positions (president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer) or nominate someone for one of these positions, please contact Linda Brenner, chair of the Nominations Committee (301-838-0626).

Also on the agenda is the annual crime report by the Chief of Police, Terry Treschuk. There will also be a presentation by the Senior Center director regarding the possible extension of Senior Center hours and discussion of impacts on our neighborhood. Finally, John Hollida of the Department of Public Works will make a presentation regarding the City's planned project to do stream restoration within the Watts Branch Forest Preserve.

Woodley Gardens 50th Birthday Party a huge success

On June 25th, about 650 current and former Woodley Gardens residents came to the WG Pool to celebrate the 50 years since Monroe Warren sold the first homes in Woodley Gardens in 1961. The party was a huge success, attracting nearly twice as many people as we planned for. The party was jointly sponsored by the Civic Association and the WG pool, with additional financial support from the City.

The party featured a DJ, kids games, and snacks from 4-6pm, followed by dinner at 6pm. After some prizes and speeches at 7pm, the party continued to 11pm with live music by The Digits, who played with pictures of Woodley Gardens, past and present on screen behind them.
